PATA India recently concluded its 2nd edition of Tourism PowerHouse on 6th December, 2019 at The PARK, New Delhi. The Tourism PowerHouse was meant to ignite the minds of the leadership of the tourism industry and to fully tap the immense potential of Incredible India, in line with global best practices. The theme of the meeting was ‘India Tourism – The Big Leap Forward’
PATA India invited international speakers and opinion leaders, from around the world, to share invaluable insights and trends. Mario Hardy, CEO PATA HQ; John Koldowski, Prof. Lehsan University China; Damian Cook, CEO eTourism Frontiers, Nairobi; Greg Klassen, Principal Twenty31 Consulting, Toronto; Sam McGoun, CEO Impact Traveller, Singapore; Sarah Mathews, Group Head -Tripadvisor Hong Kong and Wolfgang, Director COTRI, Hamburg and Kapil Kaul, CEO, CAPA India addressed the audience.
Participants had the opportunity to network, learn and interact with these knowledge leaders and industry stalwarts and participate in engaging discussions on Aviation capacity to India, Impact of tourism, Digital and Destination marketing, The China opportunity etc. A student from Amity University, Parishmita Gogoi, contributed the next generation perspective on tourism growth and sustainability.
Jatinder Taneja, Vice Chairman PATA India Chapter in his opening welcome remarks stated that, “There could not be better timings for all of us to take a Big Leap Forward now, as it seems that, Tourism currently is among the top priorities of the government and they are highly committed to realise the full potential this sector has to offer”.
Tourism PowerHouse encouraged Indian tourism experts to think above and beyond the status quo and enhance the product offering and successfully compete with world class tourism products and services.
The event was led by Yogendra Tripathi, Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Tourism, and Chairman PATA India Chapter. He enlightened the house on the numerous initiatives which have been taken by the MOT, GOI in order to increase the tourism. The event attracted a packed house of 200+ curious and participative audiences. Former Secretaries, DG Tourism, IATO & TAAI presidents, Inder Sharma Foundation Trustees, State Tourism bodies representatives, were amongst business luminaries who attended the event.
