Philip Dickinson steps down from his role at Qatar Tourism after 4 years

During his tenure, Qatar Tourism saw impressive growth, with international visitor numbers rising from 2.1 million in 2019 (pre-pandemic) to 4.05 million by 2023. This positive trajectory has continued in 2024, with 2.6 million international visitors in the first half of the year, a 28% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Philip Dickinson has officially announced his departure from his role as Vice President of International Markets, MICE, Sports, and E-Sports at Qatar Tourism after four successful years with the organisation. Having played a pivotal role in driving Qatar’s tourism initiatives, Dickinson is now ready to explore new opportunities within the travel and tourism sector.

During his tenure at Qatar Tourism, he played a crucial role in strengthening the country’s global tourism appeal. Reflecting on his time at Qatar Tourism, Dickinson remarked, “When I joined Qatar Tourism in 2020, the world was a very different place. The pandemic had put global travel on hold, so it was a particularly challenging starting point from which to build on the country’s ambitious tourism growth targets. However, since then, the country has flourished, not least thanks to the hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022tm, which brought an influx of new visitors to experience Qatar’s excellent hospitality and attractions.”

“I’m very proud of the work my team and I have achieved at Qatar Tourism over the past four years, putting Qatar on the tourism map and delivering remarkable tourism growth.”

As Dickinson embarks on the next chapter of his career, he remains optimistic about future collaborations within the industry. “I wish the whole team at Qatar Tourism all the best and very much look forward to working with my friends and trade partners again soon in my next role,” he said in an officially released statement.
