Philippines has received 107,278 Indian visitors in 2017, reflecting a growth of 18 per cent over 2016. “The magical figure of 107,278 will attract attention from both airlines and Embassy for a direct flight and changed visa rules for Indians. This will help us grow even faster in the coming years. India has jumped to the 12th position for tourist arrivals in the Philippines and is consistently maintaining the position. Looking at the growth, we will not be surprised if it acquires a place in the top 10. India recently overtook Germany and we are hopeful that if we get a direct connection, it would come at par with the likes of China,” Dakila F. Gonzales, Head, Office of Product and Market Development – India, Department of Tourism Philippines, said.
SanJeet, Tourism Attaché, Philippines Tourism Marketing Office India, says, “It is such a proud moment for DOT Philippines – India to surpass its benchmark of 100,000 visitors from India in 2017. The Indian market continues to be one of the most important contributors of international visitors to the Philippines.”
“Disposable income for leisure and travel-related pursuits amongst middle and affluent-class travellers are the major reasons behind this remarkable growth. There has also been a steady increase in MICE movement as well as FITs and small groups travelling from India. The double-digit growth in arrivals can also be attributed to major metros as well as feeder markets,’’ he adds.
