Royal Orchid Fort Resort, Mussoorie has been enjoying a year on year growth in bookings during Indian festivals. According to Dhanraj Singh, General Manager, Royal Orchid Fort Resort, Mussoorie, holiday seasons are what the hotel industry survives on and the property’s busy and off periods are defined against this.
“We have defined our packages for different seasons pertaining to school holiday, festivities such as Dusshera, winter holidays etc. Holiday season for us is the tourist season as far as both domestic and international tourists go. These periods fuel our annual business by almost 35 per cent,” he said.
Speaking about the recently concluded Dusshera season, Singh stated that the property generally goes full during this season. “Defined popularly as the Puja holidays in the east, we get a lot of guests not just from Delhi and its surrounding areas but also get a lot of guests from Calcutta and surrounding areas of West Bengal,” he revealed.
When asked about the year so far, Singh commented that the year has been a challenging one where many of the hotels are just getting over from the impact of natural disasters that hit the tourism industry last year. “Having said that, we have made good numbers in terms of footfalls and received bookings beyond expectations. Overall year on year growth in bookings has been 11 per cent,” he said.
