With over 6 months of no locally transmitted case of Covid-19, Taiwan is gearing up for end-of-the-year festivities. New Taipei City is hosting one of the four largest annual events of Taiwan – Disney’s Fairytale themed Christmas.
‘Christmasland in New Taipei City’ has partnered with Walt Disney Company in Taiwan for the first time to create a grand spectacle including the largest-ever 3D projection mapping light show, six limited-edition art installations of Disney Princess, namely Ariel, Belle, Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jasmine and Snow White at the Wanping Metropolitan Park. The footbridges around the City Hall have been turned into eight ‘light bridges’, themed around the Walt Disney characters.
The four major lighting zones will be equipped with 48 art installations in total. Inspired by the well-known fairy tale ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’, the ‘Magic Bean’ main light has been decorated on the stems with crystals, which promises to dazzle under the night sky.
This year, Taiwan’s Christmas festivities will be open only to domestic tourists with full measures in place to implement both social distance and the use of masks in potentially crowded areas. The 52-day long celebration that will continue till 3 January 2021, aims to bring magical and unforgettable memories to all the visiting citizens, families and local tourists.
The success and learnings after this year’s Christmas special will make the 2021 edition even grander and one where Taiwan looks forward to hosting over 6 million international tourists.
