In an attempt to promote newer destinations in Thailand, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), New Delhi recently organized a an educational fam trip for Indian travel agents and media to attend the Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand Travel Mart (NTM) 2014.
The purpose of this trip was to give the participants an opportunity to meet and interact with service providers and hotel representatives from Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand. Apart from the travel mart on 9th December at Chiang Mai International Convention Centre, during the trip the participants visited various attractions in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai.
In Chiang Mai, the 2nd largest city in Thailand, the group visited the famous Doi Suthep Temple, the Khum Kham Convention Complex, the grand Chiang Mai International & Convention Centre and the beautiful Royal Park Rajapruek where they enjoyed the evening with cultural performances and were treated to traditional Thai delicacies.
In Chiang Rai, the Northern most city in Thailand, the group visited the unique Wat Rong Khun Temple or the White Temple and the popular Singha Park. They also enjoyed the tram car ride to experience the city of Chiang Rai. The evening concluded with experienced a traditional lanna style meal at Sabannga Khantoke and a visit to the Chiang Rai night bazaar.
The group also got an opportunity to visit the famous Golden Triangle with borders of Burma, Laos and Thailand that can be seen from the Maekhong River Cruise.
This Educational Trip organised by TAT, was great way to promote the regions of Northern Thailand. Through the Travel mart, the agents met various hotels and service providers and got vital information on what all Northern Thailand has to offer
