Thailand to implement e-Visa system for Indian nationals starting January 2025

The 60-day visa exemption for tourism and short business purposes for Indian ordinary passport holders will remain in effect until further notice. For stays exceeding 60 days, an e-visa can be conveniently applied for online.

The Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi has recently announced the implementation of Thailand’s Electronic Visa (e-Visa) System in India, effective from January 1, 2025.

Currently, Indian nationals are exempt from needing a visa for stays in Thailand of up to 60 days under the visa exemption scheme, effective until further notice.

Under this new rule, applicants, including non-Thai nationals, must apply for all types of visas via the official website, where applications can be submitted directly or through representatives. Offline payment options will be available for visa fees, which remain non-refundable under all circumstances.

The processing time for e-Visa applications will be approximately 14 working days from the date of fee receipt. Additionally, ordinary passport applications under the current system will be accepted until December 16, 2024, while diplomatic and official passport applications will be processed until 24 December 2024.

The 60-day visa exemption for tourism and short business purposes for Indian ordinary passport holders will remain in effect until further notice. For stays exceeding 60 days, an e-visa can be conveniently applied for online. Additionally, Thailand visa applications are entirely digital, eliminating the need to send passports or physical documents.

For further details, applicants are encouraged to visit the official website or contact the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi.
