France’s Champagne region, which has seen a growth in demand from Indian travellers in recent months, has now turned its focus to the market. A delegation from the region recently visited Delhi and Mumbai to meet with agents in the cities to further promote the destination. During their Mumbai visit, Atout France hosted a media dinner for the delegates.
Romain Tilly, Promotion Officer, Champagne-Ardenne Tourism said that the response from the agents in the two cities has been encouraging, and the region hopes to see more Indian footfall in the coming years.
According to Camille Roberrini, Promotion Officer, Tourism Office of Reims Champagne & Son Pays, Champagne is closer to the Charles de Gaulle airport than Paris, making it a preferable destination for Indian travellers landing there. This point of advantage will be part of their promotions in the market.
Vincent Berthuit, Revenue Manager, Best Western Plus said that, in recent time, the hotel has seen an increase in enquiries from the Indian market for MICE. Catherine Oden, Director, Atout France added that there has been a spurt in demand for the region for even destination weddings, anniversaries and birthdays.
Roberrini added that, so far, the region did not have the wherewithal to host big weddings, but the Epernay vineyard, a heritage structure, has now added an 800-room accommodation, which will be perfect for Indian wedding groups.
