TOURISM AUSTRALIA COLLABORATES WITH YATRA.COM AND STAR SPORTS

Tourism Australia together with Yatra.com have associated to specially curate a portfolio of 30 travel packages showcasing the Best of Australia experiences for travellers planning their trip during the current and upcoming cricket season. Leveraging the popularity of cricket and the opportunity to showcase the destination to a range of potential travellers, Tourism Australia has associated with Star Sports, the official broadcaster in India for all three tournaments.

Nishant Kashikar, Country Manager – India and Gulf, Tourism Australia said, “Cricket is one of the most closely followed sports in the country and attracts tremendous attention. With the Indian cricket team setting up base in Australia for nearly four months, we have at hand a unique opportunity for Indian cricket enthusiasts to plan a holiday Down Under alongside the games.

“We are delighted to partner with Tourism Australia as we head into a long and exciting cricket season down under culminating with the World Cup. Our packages have been carefully designed to capture the ‘Aussie’ experience that will also go a long way in making the entire trip very eventful and memorable,” said Sharat Dhall, President, Yatra.com.

There were 14,200 visitors from India during September 2014, bringing the total for the nine months till September to 140,440, an increase of 17.6 per cent relative to the same period previous year. Total arrivals for the year ended (YE) September 2014 were 190,000, an increase of 14.5 per cent relative to the same period previous year. Leisure arrivals during this period increased by 23 per cent. With peak cricket season fast approaching, a significant surge in the number of Indian travelers to Australia is expected.
