The capital of India was abuzz with the who’s who of the global travel industry during the New Delhi edition of SATTE from 29-31 January 2015. Everyone in the travel trade seemed to have wanted to be part of the coveted networking dinner jointly hosted by UBM India and Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) at the state-of-the-art Kingdom of Dreams in Gurgaon.
Michael Duck, Executive Vice President, UBM Asia, welcoming the delegates at the event informed, “The 22nd edition of SATTE held in New Delhi from 29-31 January 2014 was spread over 17,500 square meters, making it India’s biggest travel and tourism event. As our brand that grows year on year, it is geared up to outperform it’s previous editions. With over 650 exhibitors and the representation of over 50 countries, we are now committed to host all you again at even bigger and better SATTE next year in New Delhi.”
The evening was filled with numerous networking opportunities and entertainment by the Kingdom of Dreams. Here, Pallavi Mehra, Associate Commercial Director, UBM India added more life to the evening by announcing that the 2016 edition of SATTE in New Delhi will be from 29-31 January at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Representing the event partner, Tse Heng Sai, Cecilia, Deputy Director, MGTO also used the networking evening to encourage the travel fraternity to promote Macau in a big way. “Macau is a tourist city and we have every attraction to engage and satisfy all the discerning travellers.”
Also present on the occasion were the captains of the industry representing several major NTOs, State Tourism Boards, and, most importantly, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
For the uninitiated, the Ministry of Tourism in India had reiterated its support allowing SATTE to brandish the Incredible India logo in various publicity collaterals of the event. The Ministry’s larger aim to increase foreign tourist arrivals in India is facilitated through this inbound show. Indian State Tourism Boards and private players were also very upbeat about SATTE 2015. States including Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Lakshadweep, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh, made the best use of their presence at the event by educating and networking with global players.
NTOs too consider SATTE as best platform to meet their Indian counterparts. As a result Israel, Thailand, Malaysia, Brand USA, Gold Coast, Hong Kong, Fiji, Korea, Cambodia, Taiwan, Japan, Bhutan, Turkey, Bulgaria, Seychelles, Luxembourg, Egypt, Zagreb, Mexico, Macau, Mauritius, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Oman, New Zealand, Spain, VisitBritain, Zambia, Singapore through NATAS and Russia through World Without Borders were present. Furthermore, global hospitality chains, cruise operators and allied service providers were seen to benefit considerably at SATTE.
