The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department will soon launch its innovative QR Code-based Audio Tour Portal, aimed at enriching the travel experience for visitors exploring the state’s cultural and historical sites. This digital initiative is part of UP Tourism’s broader vision to make the state’s rich heritage more accessible, interactive, and engaging for tourists from India and around the world.
The introduction of the QR Code-based Audio Tour Portal marks a significant step towards modernizing how visitors experience the numerous attractions throughout the state, from the ancient temples of Varanasi and Ayodhya to the architectural wonders of Agra and Lucknow.
The department of tourism, Uttar Pradesh has invited request for proposal RFPs from competent and experienced firms for developing the audio tour portal.
The QR Code-based Audio Tour will allow visitors to access immersive audio content by simply scanning a unique QR code at over 100 key tourist locations across the state, including renowned sites such as the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Taj Mahal, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, and Fatehpur Sikri.
Each code will provide an audio tour tailored for the specific location, offering detailed insights into the history, architecture, and cultural significance of each site. The audio will be available in both English and Hindi, with the scope of expanding of the facility in regional and international languages ensuring accessibility for a wide range of tourists.
This project includes comprehensive research, scripting, narration, and content production, ensuring that each location’s story is told in a captivating manner. Audio content will range from 1 to 15 minutes, depending on the site, allowing tourists to explore at their own pace while engaging with the narratives of each place.
The selected service provider will work closely with UP Tourism to maintain high standards of quality, accuracy, and user experience. The custom-built web portal will be responsive and mobile-friendly, designed to seamlessly integrate with QR codes and provide easy access to audio content on smartphones and tablets.
Speaking about the initiative, Tourism Minister Jaiveer Singh said, “The QR Code-based Audio Tour will be a significant step in enhancing the visitor experience in Uttar Pradesh. By blending our ancient heritage with modern technology, we aim to offer a richer, more immersive experience to tourists. This initiative reflects our commitment to making Uttar Pradesh a leading destination for cultural tourism and to providing our visitors with unique and memorable experiences.”
The QR Code-based Audio Tour covers a wide array of destinations across Uttar Pradesh, including the spiritual essence of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple and Ram Katha Park in Ayodhya, the vibrancy of Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Dasaswamedh Ghat in Varanasi and the rich heritage of Hazratganj and Bara Imambara in Lucknow.
The QR Code-based Audio Tour is part of Uttar Pradesh’s broader efforts to boost tourism and make the state’s attractions more appealing in the digital age. With a surge in the number of tourists, particularly following the establishment of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, the state has seen a significant rise in visitors. From January to June 2024, over 11 crore visitors arrived in Ayodhya alone, contributing to a total of 33 crore tourists across the state. This influx highlights the growing interest in Uttar Pradesh’s spiritual and cultural offerings, and the QR Code-based Audio Tour aims to further enhance visitor satisfaction by providing easy access to rich, informative content.
