The mobile app centralizes essential tourism information at one place, making it easier for visitors to navigate the state’s vast heritage.
Uttar Pradesh has introduced the “UP Tourism” mobile app, enhancing convenience for travellers. With just a click, visitors can access information about the state’s celebrated religious, spiritual, historical, and cultural sites, as well as local cuisine and handicrafts. The mobile app centralizes essential tourism information at one place, making it easier for visitors to navigate the state’s vast heritage. The announcement was made by Uttar Pradesh’s Minister of Tourism and Culture, Jaiveer Singh on November 13, 2024.
The app’s search function allows travellers to find local highlights quickly. For instance, a search for “Lucknow” displays major sites like Dilkusha Kothi, Hanuman Setu, Ramakrishna Math, Chattar Manzil, and Bara Imambara. Information provided includes location, best visiting times, addresses, and proximity to markets and other attractions. Additionally, tourists can learn about unique handicrafts like chikankari embroidery, zardozi work, silverware, and terracotta art, as well as popular local delicacies.
The app also covers key locations across Uttar Pradesh, such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura, Jhansi, and Gorakhpur, along with details on major festivals and events like Dev Deepawali, Diwali, Holi, Kumbh Mela, and Janmashtami. For travellers, special packages and booking options are readily accessible through the app. Installation is simplified with an in-app QR code option.
The minister said, “The state holds a unique place in global tourism, known for its world-class spiritual, historical, and natural attractions. For centuries, our cuisine, art, and handicrafts have captivated visitors. With the growth in tourism, we saw the need for a comprehensive app to offer all necessary information. That’s how the UP-Tourism app was born. The app includes details on each district’s attractions, lodging options, cuisine, prominent festivals, and more.”
“Uttar Pradesh leads in domestic tourist arrivals, and we’re striving to attract more international visitors. The UP Tourism app is part of our on-going efforts to make tourism here more attractive and convenient”, added the minister.
